Set up your audio input

Get the speaker's voice into LiveSunday from a mixer, an audio interface, a microphone or a browser tab.

Translation quality depends on audio more than anything else. A clean feed of the speaker's voice beats a microphone picking up the whole room.

Pick a source

Open Stream Controls in your dashboard. Step 1, Audio Input, lists every microphone your computer can see.

If the list is empty or shows Grant microphone access, click that button and allow access. If the browser doesn't ask, see Allow microphone access.

Which feed to use

From your mixer. This is the best option. Send an aux, matrix or USB output from the sound desk to the computer. Use a mix with the speaker's microphone and little or no music. Most USB audio interfaces show up in the list under their brand name.

A microphone near the speaker. This works for small rooms. Keep it close to the person talking and away from speakers, or LiveSunday will try to caption the band and the room echo too.

The computer's built-in microphone. Fine for a test. Avoid it for a real service, because it picks up everything in the room.

Another browser tab. In Chrome and Edge you can choose Another browser tab under Other sources. Use it to caption a YouTube stream, a Zoom call or any web page that plays audio. Click Share a tab, pick the tab and turn on Share tab audio in the browser's dialog. LiveSunday picks up the sound whenever that tab plays.

The console remembers

LiveSunday saves your choice on this computer. Next week the same input is already selected, as long as it's plugged in.
