For listeners
What people in the room see when they open your link, and how they pick a language, listen and read on a big screen.
Share this page with your welcome team. It covers the questions listeners ask most.
Joining
Listeners scan your QR code or open your link, such as livesunday.ai/j/your-handle. The page opens in the phone's browser. There's no app to install and no account to create.
The bar at the bottom shows your organization's name and logo, and whether you're Live or Not streaming. People can open the page before the service starts. Captions appear on their own once you start the session, without a refresh.
If the phone loses signal, the page shows Reconnecting… and picks up again when the connection comes back.
Choosing a language
Tap the language button in the bottom bar to pick a language. The list shows the speaker's language and every translation language you turned on. Listeners can switch at any time, even mid-sentence.
To send people straight to one language, share a language link from Caption Links, such as livesunday.ai/j/your-handle/lang/es. See Share your link and QR code.
Translated captions arrive a sentence at a time. Captions in the speaker's language show up word by word, so they run a little ahead.
Listening to spoken translation
On the Advanced plan, listeners can hear the translation read aloud. They pick a translation language, then tap the speaker button in the bottom bar. Tapping it again turns the voice off.
The button only shows when the organization has spoken translation and the listener has picked a translation language. The speaker's own language has no voice option, because people can already hear the speaker.
Tell listeners to bring headphones. A room full of phones playing translations out loud is hard on everyone.
Keeping the phone awake
Phones can pause a web page when the screen locks or the browser goes to the background. Captions catch up when the listener comes back to the page, but the spoken translation stops while the page is paused.
For a full service, listeners should keep the page open and the screen on. Turning down the screen brightness saves battery.
Reading comfort
Light and dark. The sun and moon button switches the theme. The page remembers the choice on that phone. Dark is easier on the eyes in a dim room.
Text size. Pinch to zoom, or raise the text size in the phone's settings.
Catching up. Listeners can scroll back to reread. A button appears to jump back to the latest captions.
Paused captions. When the operator hides captions, for example during a song, the page says Captions are currently paused. Captions come back when the operator shows them again.
Big screens
For a TV, a projector or a seating area for people with hearing loss, use the full-screen captions display instead of the phone page. It has larger text, a font size and theme you set ahead of time, and a button to enter full screen.
Find it under Full Screen Captions on the Caption Links page in your dashboard. See Share your link and QR code.
Privacy
Listeners don't sign in or give their name. LiveSunday counts how many people are connected and which language each one picked. See Privacy and data.
