Listeners don't see captions

What each message on the listener page means and how to get captions showing again.

Ask the listener what their screen says, then find it below.

Not streaming

The bottom bar says Not streaming and the page shows a waiting card. No live session is running, or the console lost its connection.

  1. Check that Stream Controls shows LIVE next to the timer.
  2. If not, click Start stream.
  3. If the console shows Connection lost, see The live session stopped on its own.

Listeners don't need to refresh. Captions appear on their own once the session is live.

Listening…

The session is live, but LiveSunday hasn't heard any words yet. Check the Live transcription panel on the console. If it's empty too, see LiveSunday isn't hearing the speaker.

Captions are currently paused

Someone hid captions from the console. The console shows Captions are hidden on every listener's screen.

  1. In the Live transcription panel, click Show.

Captions aren't available in this language

The page says, for example, Korean captions aren't available and This stream isn't translating into this language right now. The listener picked a language, or opened a language link, that isn't in your translation list.

  1. The listener can tap the button to show captions in the speaker's language.
  2. Or add the language in step 3, Translation Languages. See Choose translation languages.

Reconnecting…

The phone lost its connection. The page reconnects on its own and shows Connected when it's back.

  1. Move to better Wi-Fi or mobile signal.
  2. If it stays on Reconnecting…, reload the page.

Captions stop when the phone locks

Phones pause web pages when the screen locks. Captions catch up when the listener comes back to the page. See Keeping the phone awake.
