The live session stopped on its own

Why a live session ends without anyone clicking Stop stream, and how to keep it running.

When a live session ends early, the console shows a Session ended message that stays until you close it. Its text tells you why.

The stream stopped after 3 minutes of silence

LiveSunday heard no speech for 3 minutes and ended the session so you don't use minutes by accident. A long stretch without talking, such as a long instrumental set, can trigger this.

  1. Click Start stream to go live again.
  2. To stop this from happening, open Advanced on Stream Controls and turn off Session Timeout. The change applies from your next live session.

If you turn it off, remember to click Stop stream at the end of the service.

The console streaming it didn't reconnect in time

The computer running the console lost its connection and didn't come back within 5 minutes.

When the console drops, this is what happens:

  1. You see Connection lost with Trying to reconnect the session…
  2. Listeners see Not streaming while the console is away.
  3. If the console reconnects within 5 minutes, you see Session resumed and captions continue.
  4. After 5 minutes, the session ends.

To prevent it:

  • Plug the laptop in and turn off sleep and screen lock.
  • Use a wired connection if you can.
  • Don't reload the console page during a service. Reloading or closing the tab ends the session. The browser asks you to confirm before it leaves.

Transcription failed

The message says The session ended because transcription stopped working. Start it again. LiveSunday lost its link to the speech service and couldn't get it back after 3 tries.

  1. Click Start stream to start a new session.
  2. If it happens again, contact us with the time it happened.

You left the dashboard

Clicking a link that leaves your organization's dashboard asks Leaving the dashboard ends the live session. Leave anyway? If you confirm, the session stops. Pages inside the dashboard, such as History and Caption Links, are safe to open.
